Tyres and Rims

Post by yatisr »

I am finding it increasingly difficult to source 185/70/R13 tyres in Malaysia. According to my usual tyre guys, I am the only person in the whole country looking for these tyres!

I have two questions:
(a) I have located a set of 14 inch BBS rims with an offset of 30. Will these work on a 323i where the offset is 18?
(b) Instead of going down the route of using larger rims, could I use 175/70/R13 tyres?

Thanks in advance for any help on these two questions.

You will probably need spacers, also see the FAQ section. If you change the tyre width but leave the sidewall percentage the same, the diameter will change consideably and your speedometer will be way off. 195/65-13 or 205/60-13 may be better options if your rim width allows.

Still it is funny you can't get the desired size, I'd also try one or two different suppliers.

Thanks Jeroen. I am looking at the possibility of getting the Falken Sincera 185/70/R13. I don't see it locally available but hopefully the Malaysian agent will bring a set in if requested to do so.
