Re: Oil additives? Any experience/opinion
problem is that diff translates vibrations to chasis and it all vibrates.
harder bushings, more noise... (not only on diff)
sound insolation makes benefits only if you insolate whole car (floor in your case) but that adds too much weight if I'm not mistaken
try dealing with your noisy car. all e21 are not so quiet cars in the beginning...

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you.

Well, this is well understood, and I will consider doing some sound deadening work on the car
However, uwbuurman you mentioned that some noise from lsd is normal (vs open diffs) : Can you become more specific on this? Would be good to know if I have to deal with some sound deadening, some diff oil additive, or some ring and pinion, bearings or even bushes replacement

what kind of tyres do you have?
tyres can also be VERY noisy!
V shaped are more noisy than assymetric ones

No I don't think it's the case
Tires are continental something but no V shaped
Noise is coming from somewhere on transmission, but the poly bushes issue might be one to check out, as the diff bush/bushes was/were replaced by eurometric ones

Will consider it (although Eurometric ones were brand new, just fitted!)

Re: Oil additives? Any experience/opinion
I just saw my order to Eurometric (searching past emails)
No diff bushes
http://eurometric.com/?page_id=69#!/~/p ... d=18308562
This is the whole kit I purcheased
So the diff is mounted on the old bushes probably, the rubber ones (have to ask my mechanic in case he replaced something without telling me)

Having said that, and as I have more questions on bushes, I guess I should open a new thread?petroscf wrote:We 've gone off topic here...
Or try to find one about bushes and continue there?
