1981 323i automatic, one owner car, with factory air con

Post by Griffon »

Hi, have just bought a really nice bmw 323i, its a 1981 automatic, one retired diplomat owner from new with full service history 120,000mls ( a folder full, every mot from new, every bill, stamped service booktax disk, brochure, order list, spec list, invoice etc etc.
The original spec order states; metallic paint, 3-soke steering wheel, green tints, opening rear windows, LSD, air con, alloys, de-badged, factory tilt & slide roof etc.
The car is almost like new, interior mint, no wear to seats, console and dash mint, exterior finished in Ascot Grey metallic with blue interior, unbelieverly fitted with air con and it works !!
It drives like new, puts my newer cars to shame. I intend to keep the car totally original, I had one of these back in 1980 and have since been through most BM,s 2002tii, e30, e36, e46 etc, this by far puts the biggest smile on my face, hopefully I would like to meet fellow e21 enthusiasts in the London area.

please pm me

Hi Alpina, thanks for getting back to me. I am based in SE19 (Crystal Palace) area. Love the look of your car, where are you based ?.
My car has just been serviced by AJEC racing based in Gloustershire ( full service inc cambelt) drove it back down to London with my 5 year old daughter in back, registered 110mph with ease with Tilly doing some great drawings in back seat, I was blown away by its performance, my current stable includes mercedes g wagon (juicy) renault clio sport (wifes) golf gti (runaround) recently sold 67 short wheelbase 911 and 2002tii (got stolen and stripped lost heart and decided to sell).
Like anything old ; post war design, furniture, ceramics, photography, architecture, but most of all cars.

regards Gary

Hi, im based in north london, thanks for the compliments of my car but i have to say it dont look like this anymore it looks like it belongs to the scrap yard as its going thru a restoration period and a complete colour change... if you have any pix of your car it would be great to see..

once the ole e21 gets going on the motorway theres nothing stopping them they just race like rockets, also the renaults are nice cars, i was an ex bmw and renault technician many years back and we had the renault sport mid engine which was something like £40.000 car no back seats at all and only 5 were in the country on test trials e.t.c. and the dealership i worked for in Edgware/Wembley area, i had the oportunity to take the car home for the weekend as i was a close friend of the owner of the dealership then and i can tell you being it a twin turbo, all you hear is rumbling noise at the back nothing else, and goes like stink and sure likes to drink petrol a car that was only ment for the track. was no good for the road... shame about the 2002tii once someone steals it and things are missing heart goes from it. me ole man is the same, happened to him couple people stole his lexus and took out his 7" satnav unit which costs like 3 grand, they new what to take out, screen unit, wiring loom to the cd country map changer and gps e.t.c., he just sold it as is....

but good to hear more of UK E21 lovers.......

any pix yet?

Hi Griffon,

Sounds like you've found a real nice E21, i haven't been able to drive mine yet, i bought them with plenty of work needing doing, it's probably going to take ages.

How did you find such a nice example, did you know of it before you bought it??

That's a great spec, even aircon! 8)

Where did you find it?

Also what colour is it?

There are a few of us here that are in London or just outside of London.
