Brake Servo

Post by healeyneil »

I think my brake servo is dieing ! Brake pedal has never been great, but I think its worse now - turn off the engine with foot on the brake pedal, and the pedal should go down some more - it doesent. Also, Im losing brake fluid somewhere, with no leaks showing. So, Servos seem to be unavailable, at least last time I looked. Any good ideas out there please ? I dont want to start changing master cylinders etc, so either a rebuild for what Ive got or a direct swap please.
Oh its an '81 car.
Thanks, Neil.
Ive still got the servo from the car I broke, but as it had been sat for a long time , im not convinced it'll be any better, and I dont know how to test it !

Edit that. I just realised that, unless he master cylinder is faulty, fluid can't be getting into the servo. Further inspection required !

Just fixed a leaky clutch slave that took a while to get noticed as the fluid enters the bell housing first
