Any suggestions on what oil and type to use in a 1983 316 1.8l??

I recommend Castrol GTX 15w40, previous known als High mileage. This is especially for older engines

For my last oil change (which was the first of the "new" engine, at 1000 km) mechanic chose Motul Le Mans 300v 15w-50. I don't have so big expertise in oils, and I do not know whether he will continue with the same oil - next oil change is coming soon now.
