I want to introduce my new car, a BMW 316 from 1980.
This car belonged to a friend that passed away sometime ago, and he was the owner of a legendary BMW workshop here in Montevideo.
The car is in very good shape, almost complete, but is rusted in the usual places.
It's 4 speed, but it's swapped with a 1.8 engine.
It runs very well, and it's fun to drive it around.
I get rid of some things, the trailer hatch, and some ugly bumper bars, that were very common here in the 80's
My plans for it are not to restore it completely, I'm going to make it a driver, fix the rust (i hate rust), but my plans are to maintain that aged look of the car, that for me is very charming.
Maybe fit some driving lights but always maintaining that aged look.
The car came with the steel wheels, but I got hold of a set of Lemmerz basketweaves rims.
Also i get hold of a period correct Phillips FM/AM Radio, that i plan to modify it to have bluethoot conectivity.
Maybe next week im going to make a complete overhaul of the Carburettor, and all the ignition components.
Hope you like it!
