45 is too large for regular standard engine. My engine had bad performance under 2000 rpm, but worked ok above that. But not sure how much more performance they give compared to stock carb.

That helps alot, because the 45 carbs, are too big for 1,8l engine without modifications, like cam etc

I did a bad choice at work, and manage to overload my back. I hope it will sort out itself during this week, but it´s not looking too promising.

Update on my back. Surgery next thursday, then no work, for 3-4 weeks.
If that wasn't bad enough, an MR of my wife's head discovered an tumor in her head, not a good start of 2024. Not sure how this will pan out. Maybe I need to park the project. I hope not, only time will tell

The days are long and hard, when waiting for answers if it is good or bad tumor. She will need surgery, only then will we know if it is good or bad tumor, and what other things she will have to go through.

I can only try to imagine what you guys are going through, right now. I know that te waiting (and thinking in that time) is very stressfull. Every scenario comes to mind. Keep us posted.

Minor update.

After my wife got sick I´ve done some minor work on the car. She has gone through surgery, it wen´t good. They managed to remove 50% + of the tumor, and they have analysed it to be a tumor which she might be able to live with for a long time. No need to do any futher threatment for now. They will do an MR every 3 months to keep an eye on how the rest is behaving. So fingers crossed she doesn´t have to do any more for some time. But we never know.

So back to what is why I have this thread.

I´ve sent my fuel distributor to Australia for overhauling and calibration. It´s fitted and ready on the filter box. The flexdisc on steering colum is changed. The welding is done for now. I need to make som adjustment on the exhaust on the bend to make it fit "proto / early" model.

I bought headers from Wallot, and I hope it fit´s good. It looks ok. And I had to buy a Spal electric fan for the radiator, since the original doesn´t fit on 318 shell, since it never had an electric fan. So I made my own brackets for the Spal fan, it looks good.
I´m going to use the original resistor to make the fan a 2 stage fan, which the original fan has.

I´ve bought an 323i speedo, and adjusted the KM back to what my cars has in real KM. Still the engine has 183.000km.

Now we´re waiting for som better outdoor temperature. So that we can´t paint the engine bay. We´re still at 5-10 degrees

Well, health is much more important than cars, good to hear things are looking good for your wife!

The steering coupler is OEM, but as it is sold as aftermarket, the BMW logo and BMW part no are removed. At least you know for sure you have bought OEM quality!

Headers look like quality too! Hope the weather will improve soon...
