Hello!
In february this year i bought a 320/6 from 1978 and got loads, loads and loads of free spare parts with it, including a differential. But i can nowhere find which type of differential it is, realoem.com and wallothnesch dont know the part number. It looks like a E21 diff.
The part number as seen on the diff is 33.11-1 207 311 GGG-40
Can anyone tell me what kind of differential this is, 323i diff, 320/6 diff, 316 diff?
Differential 33111207311

The easiest way is to mark the input flange and an output flange. Turn the input flange ten times and count the number of rotation of the output flange.
Internally all differentials are the same, only the gear ratio is different. In this way you can count them.
One last test to find out if you hit the jackpot is to have three hands. Hold the output flanges tight and turn the input shaft. If one wants to turn, the diff is open. If both flanges want to turn, you might be lucky with a limited slip differential.
