Which planet are you from Mcinek? :D In a car like that, fuel consumption doesn't really matter that much...

Trust me, with your right foot plantet, your going to have way too much fun to bother with sensible matters like fuel consumption...

Come on, chill out guys. I was just curious, thats all.

That e21 is cool Jason! You should be able to wipe out even the most precocious of rice cans with that!!

Interesting comparo of Aussie e21s and those in Europe. I always thought ours are in totally crap condition - I very rarely see a decent e21. It must be a sorry state for these cars over in Europe then  I guess it is all relative!

Cheers

custom, there was a company in the US who made a manifold for the M20, but i have since lost their website link. They werent cheap, around $700 US for it either.

I milled my own, ive got a lathe :)

im not sure if the cost of 3 sidedrafts, plus a manifold justifies the change.
i doubt the flow much more CFM than the K-jet, although i suppose they
are easier to tune, horsepower gains, i dont know :?:

well madhatter at $700 notes US ($909 AU...feck!!) for a manifold, i'd cobble something together myself too (or pay someone else to...) Couple of alloy plates, 6 tubes and some welding and cutting and bobs your uncle! it would be cheaper to learn to weld aluminium than pay that!

Did a search in tradingpost for side draft webers, found two pairs??!!

Both pairs 40mm one set for $180 in need of rebuild and one near new set for $680...ouch!!

Hope the k-jet holds up for a bit longer :D while i decide whether to go silly turning my 323i into a road reg track toy or just tidy up the suspension/brakes and wheels and do a wee bit to the engine.

I know this is a REALLY big bump, but I'm doing this to my car. Does anyone know if a 2002 brake booster will fit on an e21? I know the 2002 has a smaller booster, and on LHD e21s, this will conflict with the webers. I'm probably going to end up making my own manifold because I can't find any M20 weber manifolds for cheap, and I could probably fit the webers over the brake booster, but I don't want to because it would make too much curve in the runners, making it far too difficult for me to fabricate. also, has anyone completly removed the brake booster and just put in 2 brake cylenders and 2 pistons?

Inspired my marks tango I have tried to stick all my upgrades into one post

First the dashboard mods

Hi

Here are some pictures of my dash board modifications, I stripped down a dash to fit some gauges I picked up of eBay, using the original dash for the gauges I made a couple of alloy spacer rings for the tach and speedo and glued them to the dash.

The I used a hole cutter to open out the existing gauge locations for the water temp and oil pressure. Above these gauges I have fitted warning lights for low oil pressure & high water temp. I used cut down mounting ring that came with the LED’s and glued them to the dash.

It’s not finished yet I have to add the module for the indicators high beam etc and spray the dash matt black.

Next new coilovers and top mounts (rear rates are a bit soft)
Hi

I eventually got my LEDA coilovers rebuilt by GAZ, but from what I can see the only orginal bit is the bottom of the front strut housing.

Rebound & Bump Control
61mm front housing
nickel coating
alloy components are anodised
Spring Rates and valving specific for the track (400 front 225 rear)
