Good news! Although there always can be a few surprises I already thought that it would not be that difficult to get it through the APK... :D

:P well guys I finally found the time for a test drive.

The suspension is, as on any early stock E21, very soft. Comfortable, but it could be more tight and communicative.

However, even though it's torqy enough, it won't really put the rear out. Even coming out sharp bend at 2500 rpm is enough to have a slightly spinning inner wheel. At higher revs the wheel really spins but the car still tracks nice and controllable, only going slightly wide. OK it will be different in the wet I guess!

As the front suspension feels a lot softer than the rear I expected a considerable amount of understeer but it's not there either. This feels like fun and asks for more!

However, the rear starts to feel light in long fast turns. A little bit more gas and the car goes fine again. But it definitely needs the weight of the spare wheel in the trunk, maybe even two

All good news then... well nope. The gearchanges are sometimes a bit lumpy and changing down it is hard to get it into 2nd most times. I thought the clutch was showing some wear but it's only been in there for 40.000 kms. Clutch hydraulics are good, so maybe the shifter linkage or the gearbox support bracket needs some fresh bushes.

Edit: just in case you get the idea I started redlining the car right away... no way! It's been driven by an older man for all its life. Even after a long warmup session I didn't go beyond 5K rpm... might try 5.5K next time though

And as requested a piccie of the engine bay...

I remember my cypress green car was just like that when I bought it. After many hours of blood, sweat and tears it looked like new.

At the moment I don't feel like putting in so much effort though... have a trackday on July 20th to prepare for!

Hey Jeroen, sorry to dig up an old thread but I've been looking for pictures of the BMW yellows from the E21's. Is your car Koronagelb, as suggested in this thread, or is it actually Golf? Thanks.

Nope, the 320 was Golf, the 'old' yellow:

I also had a Korona 323i at some stage, that yellow is brighter, hope u can see in this pic:

Please take one difference into account when comparing the pics: the 320 was polished professionally before the photo, the 323i was unpolished and covered with dust so the difference is bigger than what you see...

Looking at the pictures, is it safe to say that Golf has a bit more green to it and Korona is more yellow?
