One awesome (yellow) E21

Some might recall this thread...

I bought it a while ago now, but I finally got some photos of the beast.

I'm awe of this car, I absolutely love it. Problem is that it's rotten!

Why it runs chrome arches
Image

The sills were fixed together with filler, not metal. Tasty treats behind.
Image

Jacking points shot both sides
Image

Chassis legs in need of repair, both sides.
Image

Someone's been here before, but left all the fugging rot in place. Plate and forget.
Image

You get the picture... The inner arches have seperated from the rear panel, it's pretty crunchy all over. I was tempted to weld it up and MOT it in the next ten days or so, but that was until I saw the state of the sills. This will probably wait in one of my sheds until I'm a bit less busy.

On the plus side, it has those recaros and a dogleg gearbox 8)

Sweet! Looks a bit too bright to be Korona yellow but I think that's what it was originally, I love that color. And now Jeremy bought my Korona and he will soon spray it in a different color!

Anyway, yep, looks like a looooootttttt of work! Dam how I hate these chrome sills. Just like mudflaps (oops) they only damage the car. Anyway, keep in mind that with a condition and maintenance history like that, you're likely to find more traces of the tin worm.

BTW... we really need to set up an exchange programme for those Recaro's. y'all get stuck with them left seats and we have the same prob with the right seats... something must be arranged!

rob, outa curiosity, why would you say its awsome? cos the 2.3 engine? if so you could get a good chassis and shove it all in there and this way you get a more solid car!! swap it all over... do it to a 316 chassis cos there always be better than the 320/323.. wont go in to that why but if you really wanna know,.... but its what ill do.. and its fun..

Just because it's bright yellow, very low and 80's tastic with the spoilers. I wouldn't build one myself since I've already got my project 24v on the go. A lot of people are saying why don't I just spray another better E21 yellow, but again it's something I just wouldn't do... too garish, but I do enjoy this one. To be perfectly honest it will probably sit around for a few years until I do something with it.

Ok i see, but by the time you let the car sit around for a couple years, soon as you sit in the car your foot would be on the floor cos it would cross me as the condition is in a sorry state there may be GAPING holes everywhere... then its the accelerator cable issue rob....

The rear drive hubs would look great on my track car rear disc conversion, I could even paint it yellow if you like.....
