Hey,

Ofcourse they will be removed. My intension was to strip the car complete. Including motor, transmission, fuellines, brakelines, fueltank wheels, Subframe etc. etc. So it almost becomes a full body restauration.

Behind my house i have a double garage so i can store the stuf and then make a hopefully nice E21.

But this way of working takes a lot of time. And me doing it al by myself saves a lot of money.

Somethings i have done before but the most things are new for me so I need the forum for sure.

Greetings Peter V.

Today a little bit of work done.

* Removed the safety-belts at the rear.
* Removed both side windows and the chrome trim along with it.
* Removed the rear window.

Not to much rust discovered. There has been a bit of welding on the B and C-style but the previous owner did it well.

You mean the headliner. First you need to remove all windows (front and rear especially) and sealings. Under the headliner you will find 5 metal struts holding the headliner on its place. First turn them 180 degree and remove them. It's very simple.

Glad i decided to remove the headliner. A little bit of rust came free and the headliner has had some moisture in the past.

Okey,

Did some work today. I have been started with the bumpers. Cleaned the inside and protected it with a coating. Also polished the outside of it.

After that i started with the doors. Completly stripped them.

Hey,

I have been removing my doors. I have a Question about the pen which hold the doors open. Is there a easy way to remove these?

Hey Peter,

on my left side it goes easy, but on the right side I had problems too.
The pen on the right side i had to bump with hammer and drift. Perhaps you have to cut him with a very small metal cutting machine.

The pen you will get new one.

Today removed the other door. This one was a lot faster to do.
Next is to empty out the engine room so that the engine and transmission can be removed.

Yesterday i had a lot of wordk done:

-Removed the coolingsystem completly.
-Removed the alternator.
-Removed the startermotor.
-Removed the exhaust completly.
-Removed the drive axle ( The bolts at the Dif-side were very difficult to remove.

Now only have to empty the fueltanks and remove the Fuellines and the engine and transmission can be removed.

Update,

The engine is still in place because i'am waiting for the right equipment.

Yesterday i removed the rear suspension completly and did not get any surprises. The upper mounting area of the shockabsorbers are in good condition. Today removing the gastanks so that the rearside of the car is completly stripped.
