If you can't clean that stuff off and get the carb fixed, I have a couple of carbs that should fit nicely.

Shame about that rust, how's the rest of the bodywork??

I do like the early cars door mirrors, maybe I should start a poll as to which looks nicer!

Beevers do arch repair panels as I recall, i remember someone saying they were out of stock on one wing - can't remember which though. Yours is an earlier car than most around here - I suspect the wings are the same, but am not certain.

Presumably you know how to weld etc - I suspect from the way you mention tin bashing and lead loading that you are somewhat experienced in these matters.

i prefer the chrome wing mirrors. think they look a bit more class and a bit more proper old school.

Interesting job matey, bit different than the norm. Bet your a Fred Dibnah man eh !
Looks like the cars in safe hands. Its going to be interesting to see the work your doing. Nice colour too if you can get that back.
Chrome wing mirrors are deffo better looking than the electric plastic ones. Has anyone ever converted them ?

well a little bit more progress

good news the clutch isn't stuck! + found the receipt that it had a new one less than 1K miles ago.
Clutch master cylinder has a little leak though £48 from Eurocar parts << is this about the right price?

the tube that the accelertor mech runs through the bulkhead had come away from its welds this is probably from the shaft on the carb been jammed

http://www.wallothnesch.com/e/frameoffer.htm

try there for pannels, iv seen alot on ebay before but only come up every now and again. how are sills they ok? if ur stripping car down iv found one rear shoe has leaver on which in my case was seazed solid causing uneven braking and poor handbrake. so urs is likly to be same, ajjusters are m17 bolt heads behind drums plenty of penitrating oil on them. the chrome trims are very expensive and easily bent so take lots of care when removing them.

thats bmw parts catalog so u can see whats still avalible u can then go to local dealer with bmw part number and get parts u want quickly.

cheers for the info

not striping it down just mot it and use.
Sills are good just a bit infront of the rear arches but i think this comes with the arch repair panels ?
Jacking points feel good ive lifted the carpet and given them a good kick with me foot and a poke with screw driver)although ive tried them yet

all chrome trim is there not perfect some pitting but in no way bin fodder!
the is a electro platers just down the road that we use for stuff at work if i get too keen!

up to press including getting the car it has cost me £20

bananavan...if you need a replacement pedal box to sort out that broken accelorator tube i have one that you could have for free (early type suitable for cars with remote twin servos)as i have converted my car to the later servo system as it would have cost more than me car was worth to repair the twin servos...edd..
