Im hoping to get some 15" Alpina's soon.

Not sure if im gonna put chrome bumper on the front or keep the original M/sport one thats on it.

Will be putting chrome trim back around the doors, not looking forward to that job.

Any thoughts or ideas welcome fellas

Cheers Ed

Yeah, much better now you've lost those mirrors too. Will be an interesting project to see modded going back to standard.

Anyone have any thoughts on the front bumper?

Cant decide if i want to fit chrome bumper, i do quite like the M/Sport one that is on it.

Will have a go at the chrome window surrounds this week.

Also i have a set of chrome door mounted wing mirrors, they may be going on too.

I personally like chrome, on classic cars it just looks er... classy. The wing mirrors and window trim would be sweet but i would probably keep the spoiler

Seems like a lot of effort to put BM badges on. Is there no machine shops that could just open up an indentation for them ?

Dont loose the MSport spoiler, it gives the car a really sporty-look and its original too. But if you are going to put on the chrome wing mirrors, then ill say loos the m spoiler and sell it to me :) That way you ll have chrome all around

ok if sell it i will let you know, i know the fella before me paid quite a lot for the spoiler from America (i have the ebay receipt)

Do you not think the chrome mirrors will work then? i need to be sure because they fit to the door and involve drilling holes.

Regards putting the badges on, the old indents were welded with a plate, so exposing them could be tricky if not impossible.

Cheers lads

I meant that thechrome mirrors would look better when all the other chrome parts on the car are also restored :)
It involves drilling indeed, and you ll have to fill the holes that the plastic mirrors are bolted on. I believe you can replace that piece with another one.

If you're going chrome I'd do the easily reversible bits first, like bumpers, side trim and window trim, before committing to drilling holes for the mirrors. Leave them last. I'd leave the bonnet and boot badges till later too as it will be a lot of work.

Just take it step by step, and don't take that next step unless you're sure about it! Wait till you get the new wheels on it too, as that will change the look of the car and therefore have a knock-on effect to what you want to do next.

Is that E21 in the background the "chrome donor"?

thanks for that

The car in the background (well spotted) has supplied bits of chrome and the single lights.

The bumpers on it are terrible, but i have others.

I was thinking about having the bonnet and boot sprayed up off it, but they are a little rusty.

Paid £250 for the donar car, prob too much considering im now not gonna be able to use the bonnet or boot.

Its a 316 if anyone wants any bits from it.
