Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just googled the number plate, and came across the site, as I have a renewed interest in Apinas.
OKM226P does still exist, and last I knew belonged to a friend of a friend (probably still does) and needed to be re-shelled due to corrosion. I imported the car in about 1990 from Switerland, and sold it to ETA (who were in Gravesend, but have since relocated to West Kingsdown) in about 1992 (you really don't want to know how much I sold it for).
Here's a picture of it from when it was in my care.

I'll keep an eye out for replies, just in case anyone is still interested.

I have met the owner since this thread was posted. Mind you, I don't think the re shell has been started yet? He did paint m3Gaz's car though.

Good to hear you found it.
Obviously 20 years have clouded the memory a bit, but I know the car caused quite a stir at the time - even though I managed to buy the car for basic scrap value.
That picture must have been from soon after I imported it. The front bumper was removed before shipping, to try and lower the car tax that was levied at the time. You'll also note that the suspension is very high, due to cars below a certain height from the ground requiring additional MOT checks in Switzerland.
I remember blowing the head gasket on the way home from Castle Combe (BMWDC day), and thinking that the engine was nackered. When it was stripped down, it was found to be fully balanced, and the rev limiter had been removed. Good old Alpina.

It's also pictured in one of the UK books on Alpina. I got the current owner to copy the wiper linkage for the single wiper too. It's in safe hands as I don't think the current owner ever plans to sell.
Re: Alpina A4
Yes, I was told about the book a couple of years ago (by Geoff from ETA) when I was having some suspension work done on my E46 Compact - so I had to buy a copy.e21-Mark wrote:It's also pictured in one of the UK books on Alpina. There's one out there with my name on it.
Re: Alpina A4
riding a tat high yeah?????????????? Or is the wheels undersized a tat bit
Re: Alpina A4
Riding high. If the floor of the car was under a certain distance from the ground, then the Swiss MOT was more stringent, and had to be done more often. The photograph must have been from soon after I bought it, as I did have it lowered to where it should be, and also re-attached the front bumper.

Hi Araf,
are the scoops on the bonnet from alpina or aftermarket?

Re: Alpina A4
The scoops were aftermarket, and just bolted through the vents. They were very quickly consigned to the bin. The rubber strips on the sides of the bonnet were left in place though.johne21 wrote:Hi Araf,
