E21 316, coming out of retirement!

Post by RoccoSiffredi »

purchased this today.
65000 miles from new, original paintwork (although this will need touching up a bit) and 4 years worth of dust!
a bit of fresh petrol poured down the carb, a jump off from a big battery with a set of leads and she fired up nearly straight away!
sounds lovely and smooth but just wont tick over. (probably the 4 year old petrol)
hoping to get it mot'd as soon as we can but, it's going to need the brakes checking, and a new exhaust at least. oh, and i love the colour!

with a bit of a wash and some alloys, i'm hoping for this sort of look...

i'll post up the progress as it goes, but at least another e21 is going back on the road!

Welcome mate. Good to see another e21 being pulled out of retirement.

Are you going to lose those chrome wheel arch destroyers? I see one has gone already.

not got a clue which wheels i'll decide on, but most likely will be deep dish retro type wheels as i think these old cars suit them.

when you lose the arches, don't sell them, SCRAP THEM, better for everyone!.

Martin
I took the corner at high speed, came in the ditch, drove straight through a garden, flipped over 4 times and then I lost control of my steering-wheel!

quick update.
car was mot'd yesterday and failed on.....
headlight beam out of line, and exhaust blowing from centre section.
How happy was i ?!
its running shyte, and wants two small bits of welding on each footwell, but these weren't failures. anyway, left it with friend at the garage to do what was needed. so will collect next week and blow the cobwebs out of it. very happy with it, and it owes me less than a weeks wages.
so now i need a nice set of wheels. anybody selling any?

These any good.
Fully refurbed barrels, polished bolts, not chrome, brand new dishes 2" and 3" so fronts are 8 " x 15" and rears 9" x 15".

wow, nice wheels. but i'm guessing they'd be worth/cost more, than my car would ever be worth!
i'm looking more along the lines of a set for 200-400 pounds maybe needing tyres.
the car is ok but it will never be a show stopper and its going to be my daily driver through winter
