A local guy has offered me a nice '84 BMW 320i Baur TC in change for my '83 BMW 318 E21.
I'm the proud owner of a '83 BMW 323i E30 coupé as well, and also own a '85 BMW 318i coupé E30, so not new to E30s at all.....
The thing is that I've reached a point where must spend some money restoring the E21 or looking for another toy.
I don't know much about Baur E30s, their value as classic cars, price ranges, etc...so any information or opinion will be very wellcome..
Cheers.....

Value, as far as I know: just a bit above a normal 2-door. At least today. Don't know how this will be in, let's say, 10 years. Just have a look at the 2002 Targa's....
In totall there are 10867 Baur TC2 build in Germany (there where also South-African Baur's, which can be recognised by the Baur-frame being in the same colour as the body). Quite rare (normal cabs are more than 120.000 build off). As 320i RHD only 417.
Roofs can be bought in Germany for about €350,-. Quite easy to put on yourself. Only extra point to look at for rust is the C-pillars. Because of the construction this will rust for sure. Others points are the same as a normal 2-door. The Baur-frame itself is better protected against rust then the body of BMW. Parts are rare...but hardly that anything breaks. Only the rotor for putting the middelpart of the roof up is something to check.
Do you have anything like the Baur-numbers (inside of the door, small plate just below the light-switch) or VIN? Then I can look in the Baur-productionlists how it was when new.

Hi, Jeroen...
VIN number is WBAAA3104409525086.
In the car's Green Card, it's described as a 320i Cabrio, no Baur mention at all. The car is currently painted red (a colour that is soon to be changed), but its original paint was beige metallic. The car is LHD (please, note that I'm from the Canary Islands
).
By the way, Is there any website where I could find spare parts for my Baur???
TIA and best regards....

WOW...!!!! Amazing info, indeed... thank you very much.
I'm now sure the car was imported to Gerona (northern Spain) and registered there in 1990 (asked for an official report), and then brought to the Canaries by the same guy who moved here with his wife.
I've got some things to sort before saying the car is in "pristine" condition:
-New suspension system, both front and rear, coils and dampers, just because the car is fitted with Bilstein and Sparco ones, and I don't like how it rides (low, too low and hard).
-Engine tune up..some irregular idle and high fuel consumption.
-Front brake rotors and pads.
-Fuel pipes need to be changed (petrol smell into the cab).
-Finally, give a new respray with the original colour (currently painted red).
-New soft top needs to be fitted.
-Horn is not working, and I've already checked fuses and relays...
By the way, could you possibly post a few pics of the hard top locking rotor? Need to repair it, and I'm sure there must ba a missing part there, as the top doesn't fit tight at all...!!!!
I'm also in need of the Baur badges on the B pillar...Do you know where could I purchase them, please????
TIA and best regards....
