well it being back home ive been out working on it today.
first i thought id take some pics of the strut brace. pics of the welded in mounting points ive already took pictures of and posted up.
but, the bar itself is made out of a weight lifting bar and big bolt!
Image

and for ultimate access the bonnet now comes fully off. tho the bonnet is heavy!!
Image
aerocatches very nice!
Image

now for the job in hand........ FAIL!!
Image
s/h shaft ive fitted £35........
Image
chap at the scrap yard (quarry motors) had a right job getting this off the very rotten 323i this came from. he had to angle grind two of the bolts heads off!
everyone save any old shafts they have! i have a strange feeling that swapping broken shafts may become a little hobby off mine! when i get paid ill arrange a courier for them! i want at least two spares.
both inner and outer joints look the same. does anyone know if they are interchangeable??
if so, then when i break the next one i can swap the 1 good cv joint off the broken one onto this broken one ive took off and make a good one out of two shafts!

next job up......
Image
Image
fitted.......
Image
only driven it round the block seem slightly stiffer but then theres no decent corners to chuck it round between my house and the co-op..... (needed milk and fags. lol.)

thats it for now! 8)

minor update, it handles sooooo much better. still rolls a little but its very acceptable.

been chasing an intermittent non starting and cutting out randomly for no apparent reason fault, hot or cold.
when it was doing its fault there was no live to the fuel pump, coil or injectors etc.
after checking out relays wiring plugs we had disturbed putting the 2.5 in etc.
i found the crank sensor air gap to the front pulley to be just on the border line of being too big. adjusted the bracket in a little and its been fine!

ive also spacered up the front of the drivers seat, raking it back a little. to stop giving me backache.

oh and i had a little traffic light grand prix with my mate in his v-tec jordan civic that apparently has an integra engine in. either hes a shit driver or ive got a faster car, im about 2 car lengths faster to 70 ish!!!
ive looked it up on the tinterweb..... 0-60 time of an integra is 6.7 seconds!

well not updated this in a while and im bored!
did a skidding day at barkston heath last month. was reaaly good with the new engine. really surprised the chaps there with how good it is!
pics are here......
http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7032

been working thru my list of things to sort out and buy before the next skid weekend in wales.....
my list was.
sort out the exhaust rattle we picked up at barkston.
323i front brakes.
longer diff.
a decent set of shocks.
get the mims painted and fitted.
find and fit more 13" tyres to the skid wheels.
do an oil and filter change.
get some spare drive shafts as we broke another cv joint at barkston. think this is going to be a recurring theme breaking driveshafts!

exhaust rattle i fixed on the front pipe to center box.
front brakes are know sorted thanks to wiz0r. fitted the calipers with some new discs from brakes international.
3.46 diff (to replace the 3.64) also from wiz0r. ive painted it red and steam cleaned it out. just waiting on some drive flanges. then it'll be welded!
shocks im looking for bilsteins or konis on german ebay etc, been bidding on a few but seem to be loosing out atm.
mims, i need to ring my mate tom, see if hes got round to doing them yet. as hes doing them at his work, theres always other bodywork jobs to do that earn him money!
the 13" tyres are coming from a mate who works at ford. ford ka tyres! are 165 65 13..... id rather have 175 70 13s but im not picky!
oil filter i did a couple of weeks ago. oil still looks clean now!
got some driveshafts coming from wiz0r.

thats it really for now. :D

Sounds good! The guy picked them up friday so they should be there soon 8)

When my M50'd car is done I'll have to come along to one of these days and you can show me how it's done... The diff is already welded  But it also makes pushing the car around alot harder round corners!

Just think all those battle scars could've been on your sump!

Let me know what you think of the suspension kit, if it's good I may follow suit and get it.

Talking of things to do, we need to speak about the sump guard!!

Did they send the right springs?

Very shiny bits though.... Ooh, stickers too!

I would hope things might settle but does have a hint of the Range Rover about it?

seems to be the right springs, it is stripped out and has no spare wheel/wheel well.....
grinder might be coming out on them i think. guna get the fronts on and see how it drives/sits. the front should be at the right height. so might just lop a coil off the rears i dunno yet.
