Yes this was a 1983 316 spec'd as you say.
As you probably know the stamped VIN number is on the (RHD) Drivers side inner wing.
On this shell there also was a stamped number on the other inner wing as well.
I'll have a check at what it was, should have a pic somewhere.

I believe that's the part number for the shell.
