What kind of diff are you running? How much lock does it have?
Cheers

Don't the lock up of the diff but I'm guessing its standard BMW (~25%) but i have filled it with Millers LSD oil that uses a friction modifyer etc.
think it was 85/140 BM or something like that.

The Porsche 911 turbo/928 and merc V8’s all use larger metering units also you also want to pick up the throttle body and bellows. With the V8 units you can blank of the extra outlets and on all of them you can shim the pressure regulator to adjust it.
Also under the regs as you already run electronic ignition which picks up engine speed and manifold pressure I reckon you could mega jolt from a crank trigger and map sensor then you will be able to create a custom curve.
Also do you have an idea of spring rates and are you running a rear anti roll bar, a lot of US races take them off but I think that is because their tracks are smoother and they run higher spring rates.
I have zender over bumper body kit for sale you could ditch the front bumper & valance and rear bumper saving about 10kg’s plus a set of merc hi flow k-jet injectors.
Also did you get your quick rack from me.
Jason
Jason,
Don't know if you can identify the rack from pics but here is one.

Love the action shots... did you manage to hold off that sierra cosworth for long??

If so you were doing real well!! They dominated Australian Group A racing in the late 80's! (Until Nissan spoiled their party with the GTR).
From memory the Aus spec Group As were around 550hp!!

Hi Duracel79,
Im more familiar with wishbone suspension design than macpherson, can you tell me what the purpose of adjustable tca's are? is it just to adjust the track, or is there more too it? it seems like alot of hassel to build, then wouldn't be easy to adjust (ie do you have to also adjust the tierods to re-set the toe?)
with the rear adjustment, is it to adjust camber only?
cheers

The front TCA's adjust for front camber, but yes the track will increase with the more camber you run. With this setup I can get about 3 degrees of negative with standard top mounts. The Toe still needs to be set by the Tie rods attached to the rack. When you adjust the camber teh toe needs to be reset as well. I go between 2.5 degrees and toe out for racing and 1 degree and parallel for the road.
The rear adjustment is just for camber, for toe adjuctment at the rear you need asimilar slotted bracket and clamshell on the outer wishbone pivot. This would need to be slotted horizontally rather than vertically like the one shown.
Hope that explains everything

How do your harnesses mount? I am thinking of fixing mine to the rear seatbelt anchorages, but the angle might be a bit much. My cage doesn't have a harness bar, so I am also considering chopping out the rear bulkhead and using the steel rear strut bar I have as the harness bar.

Hi Duracel
Do you (or anyone else) know where I can get the adjustable TCAs? Or are they custom made?
Cheers

Hi
The company that made these went bust and I bought all there e21 stock so there are none left.
But they are a standard mod for mk2/1 ford escorts so rally design, compbrake and grp4fabrications to name but a few sell diy weld in kits.

drjim,
My harnesses are attached to my roll cage behind the seats. They are horizontal to the seat opening. Attaching to the rear strut bar is an option but that takes them through a fire wall and finding seat belts long enough may be a problem. For racing you need two skins between fuel and occupents. In an E21 the filler neck within the boot is one skin and the rear bulkhead is another (well only if you seal up the C pillars etc. I've boxed in the filler neck within the boot.). For the front seat mount i Welded a plate the the underrside of the transmission tunnel with a captive nut for the eylet ( Level with the original mount in the sill).
Hope this helps.

As for the TCA's, I don't know where mine came from as they were on the car when I bought it. They do work quite well but take a bit of time to setup. Difficult without a pit and with the car weight on them. I'm thinking of adjustable Top mounts to make the changes easier.
Jason323i, I seem to recall reading that you had some, Where did they come from? and what sort of price range are they? Do they need the toe adjusting every time the camber is moved with them?
Cheers

Also a question for Jason: is adapting the Escort weld in kit for a 323i a rather straightforward job?

Hi
The orginals were made by TAS, the guys from there set up Compbrake and OBP but no longer do e21 specific parts.
Once set up they should not move if you use the jam nuts. but i am in the procces of becoming a ground control supplier for the UK so i can get you the tasty top mounts.
To use the escort weld in kit you need to nock up a jig and have quality welder do the work.
Also redrilling the mounting point further out and upwards helps.

just on the toe issue. No matter what you use, if you alter the camber it changes the toe, so it will need to be reset.
