PROGRESS has been made........ wiring loom attached need to mod a few wires for the terminals to starter and alternator, but apart from that it all fits!
e30 coolant pipes all on..... im keeping the e21 expansion tank.
need to attach this.......

to here.......

some how??
any suggestions??
taking the loom into the car for the ecu here.......
im bodging the e21 and the 30 throttle cables together something like this.....
because we run it with just the o/s petrol tank were guna cut a square out and make a box to put the battery in around about here........
ive got one of those electrical cut out switches with the big red key thing to mount some where with a cable attached to the outside. if you know what i mean??
all is looking good, just need to get my head around the wiring.......

Murran, dont botch no accelerator cables, use the 323i e21 and run it round as normal the where the original e30 connects to the throttle plate on the inlet manifold , modify that!!! or do what im doing, well im designing a bracket plate to take an E30 325 accelerator cable.. ill take pictures and post up soon on this thread.. its done but wont be using it unless its the last resort...

if i can make it work with out buying more things then i will!
the bodge i have in mind should work fine!

Ok, its that if your using something like a metal connecter to tie twi of the wire together it may loosen whilst driving cos what you have to rememebr that when you press the pedal, alot of force goes down and would it stand that/ you dont wanna drive and when you floor it the pedal slips and goes to the floor and the car revs die e.t.c.

well got some more done tonight......
throttle cable bodge is bodged!
sorted a couple of coolant pipe issues.
subaru impretsa fuel filter is mounted up and fuel pipes connected.
was wondering about where to mount the ecu..... but i think im just guna bolt it to the glove box door!
one thing that still has me wondering.....
where the e21 coil is mounted if i had it there for the now e30 loom then id need to join two king leads together to make them long enough to reach the dizzy cap (which is obviously not good for the spark strength!) so if i mount the coil on the o/s inner wing id need to lengthen the wires to the coil by vast amounts. can you see any problems with this????
mr mooore on e30zone is helping me with the wiring, thank god! need to get the car to the point where i can attach the battery and see what comes out of witch wires on the e21 fuse box with reguard lives, ing lives, cranking lives. so he can tell me what wires on the e30 loom to put these to!
tho, i dont think im guna get the e21 rev counter to work, which is a shame!
more pics tomorrow of my bodging and cable ties!!!

rev counter? what you talking about murran? aint got nothing to do with the rev counter, that runs under a different loom.. the ecu bolt it up under thedash in the glovebox, it fits well no need to bolt it on the glovebox, this way you have the space.... the wiring is easy its only mmmm like 5 cables if i can remember and the car starts

what do you mean the rev counter runs a different loom?? theres no facility to drive the e21 revcounter from the motronic ecu is there?? or am i missing something obvious here??
i realise theres only 5 or 6 wires i need to connect. but im not sure which to what!

Hang on, the e21 engine loom fuse box connector needs to be cut of!! and the e30 engine loom also needs to be cut off, and connect the e21 fuse box connector to the e30 wiring loom, you must have the diagram, its onlu a few wires thats needing to be connected, along the line the rev counter will work, if connected the right wires of course, but the rev counter is on another loom that runs stright thru thr fuse box!! and also what you can do is run a cable from the rev counter clock straight thru to the Positive on the ignition coil for rev feedback if id dont work what ever you try so no matter what it works if you get me or can make it work

if you aint got the wiring diagram anywhere , ill look for mine and send post up the colour codes and numbers to connections, f*** easy like i says murran only a few wires and turn the key and starts!! once you wire those up

well ive got no diagrams but this is what i have!
right....... on the car side of the motronic loom i have;
1) solid blue
2)blue/black
3)-
4)brown/pink
5)black/brown
6)green/yellow
7)solid green
8)yellow/white
9)solid black
10)pink/green
11)white
12)-
13)violet/red
14)blue/yellow
15)black/green
16)-
17)-
18)black/yellow
19)-
20)red/yellow
on the e21 loom i have these pins:
3x green/violet..... ing lives..... wire to bits on the carb.
2x big greens...... ing lives...... 1 of which was live side of e21 coil.
2x blacks...... one went to coil neg, one went to the tci unit.
2x blues...... ing lives...... alternator.
1x brown/green....... ing live...... oil light switch.
1x brown white.......... water temp.
ones ive figured out;
starter soleniod.................big black - black/yellow on pin 18 of c101
alternator exc. wire...........solid blue - solid blue on pin 1 of c101
oil light switch...................brown/green - black/brown on pin 5 of c101
water temp.......................brown/white - brown/pink on pin 4 of c101
which are the ecu lives and fuel pump live?
it cranks over but of course on spark or fuel.

hang on mate, your lost....

below is a link to another site thread which i found, it should have all the shit relevant to the wiring!!!

pics........

accelarator bodge. (yes thats a white connecter block!)

coil mounted and e30 loom extended to it.

afm mounted up on a bit of the e30 ecu bracket i cut up! note power increasing k+n!

subaru impretsa fuel filter, mounted by drilling 2 holes in the inner wing and feeding a big jubilee clip thru the holes and round the filter.

throttle body and inlet pipe. note route of servo pipe. also interesting use of a wheel bolt blocking off the hole in the inlet pipe.

the wiring, 7 wires in total need connecting, the motronic relays ive just self tappered to the e21 fuse box.

note position of the e30 round connector, fits perfectly where the e21 tci unit was.

hole cutted the baulkhead here for the wiring loom to the ecu.

not as much room for gloves in here now.

power probe supplying the earth for the fuel pump but will sort it out another day.

interesting exterior battery feature too! lol.
but above all it lives and runs good. temp guage and rev counter work too!!

Murran, well done thats some good f*** shit, what i want from ya.. is that Drgonzo is doing his conversion also hes just getting the bits together and nearly there as he also has 320/6 on carbs.. if you can post a diagram of how you linked a new feul pump to electrics he is getting a fuel pump like a 323i and gonna bolt it down but for the power to it.. he needs the diagram ....
VERDICT!!!! Did you noticed any difference in performance/power????????
j
again...good one mate

havent driven it yet..... not with the battery sat outside the car via jump leads!!
got it ready to start, but i didnt expect it to. turned it over and it fired straight up and idled instantly. it sounds soooooo much better and smoother. revs up cleanly up to the rev limiter! hahaha, well thats what its getting used for!!!
and it idles in a precisice fashion, not at all accidental like it always seemed.
wiring is simple really.....
on mine....
from the e21 engine loom plug to the c101 round plug on the motronic loom.
- ing. feed to the coil - green/violet to solid green, pin 7
- starter solenoid - big black to black/yellow, pin 18
- rev counter - smaller black (different pin to starter wire) to solid black, pin 9
- alternator exc. - solid blue to solid blue, pin 1
- oil light switch - brown/green to black/brown, pin 5
- water temp. - brown/white to brown/pink, pin 4
- fuel pump is simply earthed and fed live via the violet/red, pin 13 (id suggest putting an in line fuse in this just as it comes out of the c101 connector.
the rest of the wires separate from the c101 are black sheethed wires grouped together with ring terminals on. brown/violet and solid brown both need earthing.
and 4 reds same deal need battery live.
