Re: DrGonzoPOW's 1981 320/6 - M20B25 conversion COMPLETE :)

Post by DrGonzoPOW »

Had a fiddle this morning. Changed the idle valve, air flow meter (right way round) tightened up all the hoses, checked for leaks.... and still does the same thing which is rev's dropping very low before going back to idle. The only thing i can think of is the chipped ECU i got from the bloke i bought the engine off. If its just a shit chip could there be a problem with fuel supply eg over-fuelling and choking it up slightly ?? It does smell a bit strong

Cheers Murran, but i have a 320 one already.....infact ive just tried it, and it goes back to idle fine with that. The fuel mix and timing must be loads different on the chipped one i have. Mind you, it is f**king quick with it on!

Does anyone have any knowledge about the heater matrix and valve ? Cars running a bit hot, and the blowers will only blow cold air

might have a bit of air in it since the conversion.... give it bleed up at the heather pipe on the baulkhead.
loosen the jubilee off and pull the pipe off abit. top it up at the expansion tank till it comes out at the matrix pipe and shove the pipe back on while coolants coming out if you know what i mean?
then bleed it at the 8mm headed screw on the thermostat housing afterwards.

from the way the back of daves car sits down and then disapeers off into the distance when he boots it. id say pretty huge difference lol.
even nas said last weekend (at the mini meet we had) that he was "almost" having trouble keeping up with him......

Haha, just read that. Yeah man, its fooking rapid! Its all low end stuff tho to be honest, i have to drop gears to get it shifting. Just been out for a razz today but it looks like the chuffing slave cylinders packed in. Just nursed it home from the mean streets of Barnsley.

Check your thermo coupling thing. When I had one and it was just starting to fail, I had similar problems.

Or the sender, wouldn't be the first one giving up either. For the rest, wonderful car and yes, that powerplant should make quite a difference indeed!
