ok- time for an update. the head is still at the machine shop. i have had to take them three sets of valve seals so far. needless to say, i dont have my head back yet. the block is there as well. i have found a good cheap place to buy my stainless exhaust pieces. gonna do a complete exhaust in stainless, should look nice. took the intake manifold and the valve cover and masked off the high spots and painted both pieces with black wrinkle paint. i then polished the high spots with jewelers rouge. it looks sweet. will post some pics when the sun is out.

some rust i found in the sunroof area. its the spots i mentioned in the post about fixing it

i realized last night that i didnt have the required mounting brackets for the expansion tank for the rad so i am going to have to fab those up today. trying to knock my my punch list down as much as possible, but it just gets bigger

well- i got my mounting brackets done. it wasnt too hard actually. it took about 2 hours to get done. may not look factory but its gonna do the job

the headlight buckets are coming along nicely. treated the rust and have given one of them a nice coat of satin black epoxy paint. looks factory- maybe a little better because i did it
works gonna have to stop for a while as im leaving town for work again. this job is a 12 hour drive away , but i get paid for my mileage

finally back in town from work. was only supposed to be a ten day job but it turned out to be a 24 day job, oh well. just means more money. got a package from wurth while i was gone to use on the car. also gonna try and pick up where i left off with all the little bits that need to be taken care of. will post pics today, i promise

What kind of machinery is it connected with? A generator or compressor unit?

the last pic is of me standing on the compressor side of it and its connected to a generator. the pics where it looks like im welding in a bucket is actually part of the 'injectors'

Very nice. Is this a steamturbine or gasturbine unit?

This type of industry is where i work too. I am not a mechanic but the operator who is controling the unit.

its a gasser. i am on the repair and maintain side of the industry. i am a union millwright, and thats one of the scopes of what we do

It is nice to see what occupations some E21 drivers have.
