Me and everyone else who goes racing or rallying have had it wrong all these years and have clearly wasted our money on fitting quick racks to our cars, as it seems they're totally unnecessary.

Oh, OK then, I give up! I obviously don't know what I'm talking about as I've only been driving powerful rear wheel drive cars sideways since before drifting had even been invented (it was called rally driving in those days!) and I have only been involved in motorsport for 15+ years!

A Hillmen Avenger went into the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend in front of me and chucked gravel back onto the track. Race was stopped and restarted but most of the gravel was still on the racing line being flicked up by cars infront. I wasn't the only victim that day, even the race winners out front had some chips. I was just the unluckiest one out there it seems.murran wrote:you want a quick rack, you buy one.
i dont, so i wont.
howd you do that to your screen? follow someone into a gravel trap?
or pissed off you next door neighbour, before you found out the hard way that he has an air rifle?

Mini Update,
Got my replacement screen and headlights fitted over Christmas, So the car is all ready for the Track again.
Thanks for the Screen (and other bits) wiz0r
Bought an open 4.1:1 diff from an E30 318is and my dad is dropping it off at the transmission guy today with my spare E21 LSD.
Getting the crown wheel and pinion swapped over and the LSD lockup increased.

Hi Chap good to see another racing E21. I spent most of my choldhood following my dad around who used to race an E21 in the Road Saloons and later in the BMWRDC. Brings back some good memories.
If you ever need a pit crew I would love to come and give you a hand just for the price of a free ticket.
I spoke to the chap who owned the other E21 a few years back at Castle Coombe. Don't know if it is the same chap or not. These cars tend to change hands alot.
Ever thought about running it in the BMWRDC, I still think that a well sorted E21 would be competitive in Class C.
Drop us a line it would be great to have a look at the car.
Cheers
James

He is still racing, but keeps saying he may sell the car. If anyones interested in the car I can contact him for you. The car is running a standard E30 Motronic 2.5 at the moment and is quite quick.
As for racing with the BMWRDC, at the moment it would be a bit too much extra expense for me. New control tyres (currently mine are barely scrubbed) & data logging (expensive?) are required along with a different seat/cage than i've got I think. I may look into it in the future when I slot a 2.8 into my car
No probs for free tickets, usually we get spares for most events. I'll post up when I'll due to do any racing and have spare tickets.
Help is always appreciated, however if the racing goes well there's very little to do in the paddock, just put a bit of fuel in and mabe clean the car
Provisionally the dates i'll do:
26th March Brands Hatch Track Day
16-17th May Silverstone Race Days
27-28th June Snetterton Race Days
25th July Lydden Hill Race Day
22-23rd August Brands Hatch Race Days
5-6th September Rockingham Race Days
4th October Mallory Park Race Day
All depends on funds and incidents that may occur
Not sure at the moment, i'll find out what's required from the Transmission guy when my dads dropped it off. I'll let you know the score as and when I do.dthetomc wrote:Who is do the clutch plates in your diff?
Gonna need mine seeing to at some point.
