woo hoo finnished paintig today , Well the underside and engine bay at least. best of all my coilovers eventually landed and ordered new sound deadening from bmw for the bulkhead.

cheers. im pleased with how its turning out. been working on my mini today i re shelled that with a brand new shell and it only looks half as good as the E21. the suns out now and im banned from working on the cars until next week as i have a selfish hobby and am not giving the family any time lol.

This cars already awesome , I love this conversion can't wait to see it finished! IMO, I'm hold up my hand from now just incase it come up for sale one day! Lol

I cant take a lot of the credit in fairness all the engine transplant info has come from nas80 and any other information ive needed has been made available from this forum and the members lof it. ive just given time and labour the brains bit ive begged and borrowed from others . wont be for sale in the foreseable future im affraid. thanks though.

Pulled all the engine bay wiring back through into the glovebox so I can mount it in the cabin. Going to look into having a more modern fuse set up( not sure yet though as all those wires are a bit scary) And it should keep the bay looking tidier.
Also put the new sound deadening in the bay and started putting everything back.

you bought new sound deadending? you have the part number?

i have done the exact same thing (before you did lol) ok so i decided that the cables possibly far too long - the modern fuse box setup wouldnt be feasible - you would need to rewire the whole car. an auto electrician costs ££££££..

what i was going to do was loop the wire around the back of the dash or under the passenger side carpet to effectively remove the requirement to cut it shorter.. it only needs about 30 cms knocking off the length of the wires...

This is why your going to do mine Nas, I m scared of the wiring.

part no is 51 48 1 852 060 for sound deadening.

not properley looked at fuse box yet but Iooking at it I think it might be do able (ill make two lol) and would be easier to make look factory in the cabin though passing the wire round and using the original will save a shed load of time and headache. have you had chance to make us those bushes yet pal?

picked up some banded steels today cheap 8 and 8.5 x 15 need some more subtle paint and some sort of bmw centre/hub caps. we will see if they ever make it onto car it will be my 4th set of wheels and ive not used it yet lol.

I was thinking of making a false floor in the upright of the footwell where my ecu / relays can live. (just like an rx7) and the fuse box upside down under the dash. With a clasp to hold the cover on.

Those rims will fit a treat tbh. Paint them chrome or a light colour. white might look ok against cream..

Thanks for the part number. I've decided to replace mine lol. I think it will be too damn loud in the car without it. as I do longer journeys in my car it would be annoying.

banded steels have gone they leaked air and wouldnt balance up
not touched the E21 for a while ive been working on my old mini anyway now thats back in tip top ive done a bit today.

lastly painted the callipers ready for rebuiling with new pistons, seals and fittings.

it was really nice to be back working on a proper car and I hve to say im really pleased with the way its going but it is now meaning almost everything gerts some sort of painting or polishing before it goes on the car.... so so gay .
fingers crossed I have some spare time this week so fingers crossed I should have some more updates this week.

Yea thats a lot of work but its worth it until you drive it through a puddle!!
