Air filter assembly

Post by 02Man »

Probably a divvy question but....

I've got a 1982 316 auto and it was missing its air filter assembly when I bought it.
I just got one from someone breaking a car on ebay and apart from looking like it had been cut from the car with a pair of bolt-cutters,it doesn't fit :(
There is a plate to bolt it on to the carb, the plate has 4 holes but my carb only has 3,I tried to bodge it on without success.
Any ideas ?

Failing that, what actually is my carb? and can I get a K&N pancake style filter to fit?

Cheers :)

Also the plate has 'M 12' stamped on it,I thought my engine was an M 10 or does this refer to something else?

different carbs have different filters, weber and solex are different but you can get adaptors. IMO best thing is to go to a scrap yard and just see what you can find that fits and then search the bay for a K&N mushroom for that car

I'd love to find one in a scrapyard...I've often thought about dumping mine in one myself though recently
