M10 2.0 block on E-30 K-Jetronic Head (Please Help)!!

Post by Jazziat »

Hello everyone,

I`m asking for your help on this topic and i will shortly explain to you the situation.

My original engine was 318 M10 EY (which i think its the Economy version) coming with the original carb (Solex 2B4) & i replaced the engine head with the E-30 injection K-Jetronic (ECU & Airflow meter).

Currently i have a problem with my block in the bearings & i need to change the block, so i thought it would be good change to look for the M10 2.0L block.

I found the hole engine (distributor) in Egypt coming from USA & after searching the internet i found the following specs:

Bore x Stroke mm: 89 x 80
Compression Ratio: 9.3 : 1
Injection: Bosch K-Jetronic (Distributor)
Max Torque: 175Nm @ 4350
BHP :125 @ 5700

What i want to do is to buy the block only and put the E-30 (K-Jetronic) head i already have on the block.
So i will be using ECU & Airflow Meter.

My questions are as follows:

1- Should i gain any more HP & Torque to the above figures from using the E-30 Head instead of the the original early head of the M10 2.0 L .
2- Will the installation be easy or i will need to change something.
3- Would this setup be good for a next step Turbo Charge application & if yes, what would be the maximum boost that should be used without risking to damage the stock internals of the M10 2.0 L block.
4- I heard that the M10 2.0L block comes originally forged internals as it was the same used in the early 2002`s.
5- Should i change the original injector`s used in the M10 318 E-30 engine (which are i guess 175 CC) correct me if i`m wrong !!

Thanks in advance for the help guys.

Jazziat.

m10b20 piano top pistons hits e30 head. Not much but it does. So you need take a bit off of material of heads ingition camera. Comperesion after such mod in my case was 14. Not good for turbo stuff.

could you not get one of those head spacer decompression plates and two head gaskets to drop the compression/clear the head?

the legion dont recomend spacer plates as they cause detonation,

i think the plate edges get to hot and cause damge, its a much cheaper way of doing it though

very wired J.K.jr.bad, i thought that the M10 B20 pistons as low compression .... :(
But anyway ... i have a good idea .... why not putting my pistons (which are already low compression coming from the M10 B18 EY block) its the same bore 89mm

I guess by doing so, i can lower the compression to 9.5 or something .... do you know any info regarding this.

And, regarding the spacer idea .... i think its easy to do so ..... one of the options i guess .. thanks murran.

However, i agree with austin25uk about the damge coming from using a spacer plates .... maybe i can use them only as a last option.

so, again .... i`m lost .... should i do this swap .... or its better to rebuild my M10 B18 and go for a little bit high revs .... using the benefit of shorter strock ... and turbo charge the engine while doing some head port & polish job ????

i guess all the help is needed from you guy`s .... you are the expertees here
