help - wiring a Audioline EQ

Post by tommi_e21 »

Dont know if anyone can help me with this, prob just gonna have a crack myself

bought this off ebay for just under a tenner and i thought if all else fails it will look pretty cool whatever happens

Image

Its a retro EQ and kinda mini amp i guess

here is a pic of the wiring

Image

The power and earth are pretty clear.

now there is no low level rca inputs only wires

the grey and brown wires have striped earths so i presume that they are the speaker outputs

the system has a fader on it and left to right levels so must have 4 outputs. there is also a green pair and purple pair of wires which could also be outputs or inputs.

there is a red, white, yellow and blue wire spare, these i think are different inputs.

any help would be great. even if you have seen this in a car before

there is no model number on the unit anywhere

If I recall - and its been a while - the speakers share their earths. You'll have 2 inputs and 6 outputs ( 4 speaker positives and 2 negatives ) I'm pretty sure it's something like that anyway? If not, Google the installation instructions.

nice unit. i saw another retro EQ go on the bay recently too

my advice would be to set it up on a bench with a 12V supply (if its a 12V). use batteries to avoid killing yourself.

get some croc clips, a spare tiny speaker some tape and a marker.

run a source into it from an MP3 player by croc clipping the ground and live of the input to the other end of an RCA or minijack running from your player, then attach a speaker and work out which is left back, right front etc using the fader. beatch crouching in the foot well with a multimeter and some choc block

Equipment that old can also be a little tempremental with slide faders especially, listen for scrathy badness as you slide them up and down

Oh and where were you thinking of sticking it?
