Door mechanism stiff
It's really bad on the passenger side from inside, especially when it's cold - takes two hands to open. Additionally, if you lock the drivers door while inside (a necessity in some parts of Manchester, unfortunately!!), lifting the handle doesn't unlock the door meaing you've got to exit via the window or climb over.

Re: Door mechanism stiff
passenger handle probably just needs lubing/freeing off.
cant say ive ever tried to lock myself in and then try to get out.........
hang on, i'll just pop outside and try it............
yeah i can lock the door from inside and pull on the lever and it opens. the lever is slightly stiffer tho than when i normally open the door. probably cus its "doing" more.
again strip it and lube it!
