shortened spax shocks

Post by quinn_656 »

came across these last night while searching for bilstein inserts

http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p ... -Shortened

they offer shortened rear as well does anyone have any experience of them. i presume they cant be an insert if they are shorter so how do they work?

i have lowering springs although not sure what they are but have a feeling they are only 25mm but cannot be certain the wheels are 13" with a 55 profile. and i would like the car to sit low but practical and reasonably comfortable kind of a happy medium the car is in bits so i cant really measure anything but i know that my 323i shocks are shot so i'll be needing something what are your thoughts on these spax units?

I've not used the Spax shocks, but the Bilsteins are basically just a shorter rod. It prevents having to use keeper/helper springs to maintain spring contact on the seats. It supposedly also keeps the shock in the optimum operating location rather than being pushed further down when you have lowered springs.

Will they work if you only have 25 mm lower springs? They should do. Assuming your car currently settles more than 15 mm when you drop it off the jack, any preload created by the shorter shock should be taken up by the weight of the car.

Cheers
