HELP, my life has became a static hell!

Post by NikkieRoxxx »

Laugh all you want.

Since Wednesday, I am giving myself, my DH, and even my house pets static shocks...
I even got a blue spark out of the phone hitting my hand when I tried to pick it up.

We recently got a dryer, but I always use anti-static sheets in it, so it can't be that.
I don't leave any clothes on my sofa or anywhere, exept today, my mom guinea pig, Bianca, got up deadly sick, I already went with her to the vet twice, she got a 70mL saline bolus, vits, pain killers, anti-biotic --well, the whole cocktail since its difficult to say what's going on with a cavvy!!--, and I got her home on a pad on the couch, giving her water every 15 min and puréed hay every hour.

She started "chatting" again, crawled and put her head on my tigh when... SPARK!... poor thing. She yealped... and didn't seem to like me anymore for a while...

I got shocks touching door knobs, openning my dishes washer, touching utensils... you name it! :wtf

I am desperately wanting some tips here!...

Nikkie

Shoes Nikki, that's what it usually comes down to. I doubt you have cheap nylon carpets, but some shoes even generate static on lino floors. This is why operating theatres have antistatic floors and theatre shoes have antistatic insulation in - anaesthetic gas is highly flammable so you don't want sparks around.

Have you bought new shoes recently??

I have natural stone floors, and I wear orthopedic shoes to go out and rubber slippers inside...

Bibi seems to do what better, I still need to feed her, but she's chatting now...

hi
just picked this up
I often have the same problem!

I have to tap the door of the car when I step out lest I get a shock!

It comes from TOO MUCH insulation

I have had heel problems since I gave up football and Army and running (4 1/2 minute mile) and have had to use rubber soles on shoes
This has caused the static

Suggest you go back to leather soles and metal heels on shoes so that you connect down to earth at all times!
