the head on my e21 320/6 is dead. i want to change the engine for one slightly newer and need an easy job. will a e30 318is engine fit and what will i need to change? more to the point i need an economical engine that inst going to guzzle fuel. i need lots of help as ive not done this before.

Cheapest/quickest bolt in option is a 325i engine and efi from an e30, which will give more economy, an 318is engine will require more fabrication.

economy wise, you could lift an 2.7 m20 from an e28. and put it in as it was.
