Anybody know if the 4 speed off an 02 will fit the m20?

No, it won't. M10 engines have different bell housing to M20'S.

I thought so, but am I right in thinking the bell housing is bolted on? maybe swap housings?

Doubt those ones are removable/interchangeable.

Removable bellhousing are rare on getrags.

ty guys...shame, I realy like the 4 speed. would have been nice to see what happened with the extra cylinders . the one I had was in a 78 320is back in the states. lots of fun

Im talking with a guy on ebay that has a full set up so Ill see what happens
