york dragway - RWYB

Post by nas80 »

so before i go 2.8 24v im planning on taking the m50 e21 up the drag strip - if i hit 15 seconds i think that would be a good score tbh.

Anyone fancy coming? 29th of August (bank holiday monday)

Nas

Theoretically possibly me and the Baur could come. I'm working the weekend but have the Monday off.

You are very skinny which offsets the rollcage.

If I come, remember it's a Baur with a fat driver, likely to be very slow but it would be most interesting to compare our M20's with these newfangled 24v thingys.

If its the same air strip they use for '10 of the best' then its at Elvington airfield just off the A64 before the Scarborough/York roundabout

elvington it isn't! man what a shit track. it's bumpy and has a rubbish surface. you have to really slam the brakes on cos theres not enough run off.

i still did a 14.1 in my rx7 in very damp conditions though.

the m50 has only done 4k in my car and im already going to swap it. its good as a cruiser engine but not that good enough to be a mad man like the m52 in marks car. MIB is way faster then mine.

dont think we'll be in the 14s somehow. my old scirocco scala gti running a kent cam and audi 2.2 throttle body (130ish bhp) did a 16.45 @ 90ish exit. might have done a bit better but i was bored of queing for half hour each time at pod after 3 runs.
oh a pic for you!

no, i didnt beat the golf, it had a 1.8t engine in it!
