Sorry, not BMW related but need help on a Vauxhall part

Post by DrGonzoPOW »

I snapped this little valve on my van when trying to change the alternator. No ones replying on the vauxhall pages and the garage doesnt seem to know either. Hopefully one of you boffins can help !?

Theres a hose that runs from the alternator (the alt has a pump on the back) up to this one way valve then it runs through a rubber boot thing on the bulkhead/firewall. Im guessing its some kind of vacuum servo check valve or summert ??? Does anyone have any idea's as im screwed without the van. Cheers

Yeah tis a one way valve but just wondered what it was for. Brake servo maybe ? Will any old one way valve work as a replacement ?
The alternator itself is an absolute t**t of a job. Had to take the front end and all the boost pipes off to actually get the dam thing out of the engine bay. All the bolts are rusty and seized, loads of stuff has snapped and its all caked in oil.

Probably a servo hose so any similar one should be fine mate. I'm sure your local scrappy will be overflowing with old Griffins. ;)

isnt the vac pump for the brake servo mounted on the back of the alternator? it will be the one way valve for the servo (as others have suggested). pipe it up without as a temp. measure. and get down the scrappers any old diesel vaux will have the same part and use your brain to pipe it up.

Vauxhall actually had a second hand one way valve thingy in the drawer at the parts desk and they let me have for nowt! which suprised me alot for a main dealer. It is indeed a brake servo pump on the alternator. Thanks for the help fella's
