windscreen! arrrrgghhhh!

Post by nas80 »

So I go to put my windscreen back in. I got it to the point where the glass is inside the rubber in the hole where the screen goes. This believe me was in itself a v.difficult job on my own.

Now i need to fit that chrome bit in to lock the rubber. But NO the stupid car is fighting me back! i get as far as the corner and then i just dont have the raw power it takes to get it to sit in the grove.

Is there a trick to this? Ive got a tool off ebay to help. It looks like a screw driver but it has a traingular end- its useless! Damnit!

Maybe I needed soapy water? Or some other sort of lube? And maybe a better tool as well! Lol.

Thinking about it.. I should also stick a thin bead to silicone in there before I tighten the rubber down with the chrome edge.

washing up liquid and water makes it slippery enough. Guy who did mine just used a screwdriver and a spray bottle with fairy liquid/water in. Plenty of hitting it with your hand and swearing helps too as I discovered when I put the rear screen back in the slug.

Thanks Jim

Ill buy another tool as it wasnt wide enough for the chrome strip. defo will use something to lube it and yelling obscene words always helps when doing anything tbh..

Waiting for a warm sunny day helps. Made the rubber way more compliant when I did the 02.
