Dual Sidedraft Stromberg onto m10

Post by pilly »

Hello,
I picked up a pair of 150/175 Strombergs, with the manifold and everything from an e12 (i believe), for dirt cheap - just $20! I've looked around at some other forums and not a lot is said about them. The plan would be to remove the EFI already converted on the engine to the carbs. Has anyone had any experience with these? Ared they even worth the effort?
Thanks!

The side drafts will be from a UK version e12 520. I believe they were more hassle than they were worth, so all the other carb 2 M10s used the solex. The e12 520 produced less power than a similar e21 320 (although there were some internal differences including compression ratio), but I'd say the single carb solex would be easier to tune for the same output. You can also fit the Weber 32/36 to the downdraft manifold.

Mind you, it would be pretty rare set up, so that would be cool. :)

Thanks for the replies, these seem to be quite elusive, there isn't much said about them. Unfortunately I don't know a lot of German but pictures are always fun, thanks for finding it anyway! I might just go ahead with it, would webers or dellorto's fit straight onto the manifold if the strombergs go wrong?
Thanks again.

They would certainly be a rare set up. I reckon that makes it pretty cool.

No, the weber wouldn't fit. Wrong spacing and bolt pattern. You can buy a manifold for a single side draft though.

In case anyone's wondering, here's a photo of an e12 with the dual carb on M10 set up. The same colour as mine is just a coincidence, but I did make the guy and offer on it...
