Unwelcome Tyre News

Post by TopCat »

braved the simply appalling weather to fit my winter/snow tyres on the ZT-T today- which are Michelin Alpins and are fantastic. PS a great idea to run proper winter tyres in the winter
Tyre shop was full of tyres I had never heard of but with tread patterns I recognised
there was an Evergreen tyre that looked like a Khomo Ecsta or Continental- something called a Delinte in 22 inch size that was a copy of the Geolander Yoko tyre
Fine I clearly was in budget tyre heaven
But what he told me was that all tyres are graded A,B or C-- most A grade tyres (whatever the make) now go to China and Japan- and Europe and UK make do with the rest.

Indicative of things to come..................I hope not!

I recently got a set of Toyo 888Rs in the largest 15inch size- special order presumably since they are Grade A and car is in poor down at heel UK?

I can't quite see tyre manufacturers compromising their reputation with the wealthy Eurpean market (Germany, Switzerland, etc) over the likes of China, essentially still a developing country.

without giving too much away
we have a small surprise in store
S van D M is to co drive the 1 hour enduro at Kxxxx in Feb with me in Butch
plan is that win or lose we should get lots of tv coverage and publicity etc etc for the business

will do press release nearer time down there- so might regret having mentioned it now (please don't mention his name here- as may be found by the opposition on google!)
