Cam Belt on m20...easy job?

Post by max »

Hi guys,

I'm at a stage where I have had a lot of work done, but havent done the cam belt. I really need to do it before I spead money on paint. I need to see if there are any problems with the engine as I havent run it for long, as I'm sure it hasnt been done for years.
Is it an easy job to do?

Depends on your experience level I guess, if you've done some advanced tooling before it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. We have an extensive topic on this job in the Dutch section, I can try to free some time next week to do a decent translation.

You can try Google Translate on this page but usually it's not that useful on tech topics:

While you are waiting for a translation, here is an English language description of the process you can peruse. I have not tried this in the past, had my mechanic do it for me instead, but in future I will do it myself.

Hmmmm oh yeah that translation I promised

Looks like a useful article. Some minor differences like we have the ignition parts and some coolant hoses (other water pump) on another location but for the rest you should be able to use this write up. Perhaps Google Translate does a decent job on our own page then it will defo give you some useful additional info.
