I need to let the BMW Car Club know how many cars we are likely to have at Gaydon this year? I have requested that we be given a better spot than we've had in past years. (Apart from 2012 it has always felt like we were stuck over the back like the embarrassing uncle at a family party! ) Last year there were only 4 or 5 e21 there anyway. This year however, we are going to be next to the 2002's and this is an area that always attracts a fair amount of attention. I don't see why we couldn't have a stand with 15 or 20 cars but it will mean us all making the effort to attend. It really doesn't matter if your car is fresh from restoration, a ropey 316 daily smoker, a modified 323 or track car. If it's an e21 we need to get it there! I will also be asking Park Lane BMW if they'll bring their mint 320 along? I am going to tell the club we expect there to be about 20 e21 in attendance.
The list below, in no particular order, is just some of the cars I know of and would really like to see at Gaydon 2013. If I've forgotten you (sorry!) just 'quote' the list and add yourself.
Cobbler - 323i Baur
Darrel - 323/2.7
Nas - 316/m52
Harley - 323/m52
M3gaz - 320 auto
Problemchild - 316/m52
Duracell - 323 race car
e21meister - 323i
Reck - 316
Woody - 316
Jack25 - 316 track car
Steve21 - 323i
Me - 316/m52
Gold323 - 323/m52
I know there are a few UK cars that are not forum members so if you know them please ask if they'd be prepared to come along? If we can show that there is a thriving e21 scene here in the UK, it will benefit us all. Aftermarket manufacturers and independent suppliers simply do not cater for the e21, as they believe there is simply no demand out there. If we can show them otherwise, they may be more likely to consider providing stuff for the e21? The easier it gets to run and maintain an e21, the more likely people are to consider it an alternative to the 02's or e30's.
I also think it is quite likely that an e21 photo shoot could follow Gaydon. The shows are always attended by photographers and if they see a strong turnout of cars, that are a little different to the norm, they'll be on it like a fat kid on cake.
