rolfi's 1981 320/6 - It's coming together!

Post by rolfi »

Hello.

It's not finished tho, but I'll post pics of it as it is now! It was ready for paint, but started to rust everywhere, so I had to put some cheap paint on it, and that was wrong I figured out. So I have to wash it all off. But whatever, you see how it looks now ;)

There is one big hole left on the floor. That's what left on the body and I have to weld the antenna hole again.

After that I need to get 2 new shocks in the rear and a new rear bumper. That's it!

And some paint ofcourse. I think I'll stick with the alpineweiss.

Btw. What do you guys think about my taillights? I need new ones anyway.

EDIT: The car is on hold right now. I have just moved so I have to settle down first, before the finishing of my E21! The engine looks shabby but is still great!

Oh and another thing. My exhaust blowed on the way to my new home, so I need to weld it back together! Or stick with the sick loud M20B20 noise.
I can get a sound clip if anyone is interested ;)

Thank you!

I think I'll keep it white, even tho I have painted the trunklid black on the inside :p

Everything can be redone ;)

EDIT: And btw! I even have a 5 speed sport-gearbox that I'm waiting to put in! With the 1st gear down to the left :D

Yes! Thank you for noticing ;)

I used transparent paint, made for painting lights and painted the top black and the bottom red. I'm planning to block the light through the black section in the middle, and block the red sections on the reverse and blinkerlight so that they light white and blink yellow! Hope you see what I mean ;)

It will never go though the EU-test, so I will have to get new ones before that. But the glasses were broken and I was bored :p

And I even do have chrome around the grille :D

Did you see the first pics of the car when I got it?

Very much has been done, and the things that are needed now is 2 new shocks in the rear, welding one hole on the floor and some paint.

Even tho sanding the whole car will be a true hell.

Thank you for all the comments :)

Haha, I got kind of yelled at on another forum for posting too many pics :p

There are some pics here: http://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f200/rolfi1

I guess I can comment every single picture, so post the pic along with a question/comment request and I'll answer/comment as good as I can! :)

EDIT: I'll put some pics from a locked photobucket-account here too..

Image
Mint condition rims. They still have the beautiful brown trim on them!

Image
The holes are making even the interior aerodynamic! For high speed driving in warm areas!

Image
The worlds smallest garbage-bin was also fitted to the car!

Image
This is the bad way of welding.. Popping a plate over the huge hole and throw some plastic padding over. And of course a little cup of beautiful black paint.

Image
Still on!

Now with a movie..
Or, actually just a film clip.

I don't know if I ever told you guys about when I moved and had to take the car with me.

The rear silencer was pretty rusty when I got the car, but it didn't leak.
Now it's almost like having nothing there, for some reason it managed to get all full of holes when we drove it up here.

So here is how it sounds now:

I guess it's just the natures way of telling me that it wants it's steel back..

(No, I'm not the one that's filming and saying "HUH!" when the headlight comes on! )

Whoa. Time for a update.

The car has been sitting for quiiite a long time, but now I'm really getting somewhere.

I've bought new sills, new front wings, the Hartge front spoiler etc..
Paint is just a call away, but I want to get rid of the small rust spots first..

My rear bumper is missing, and the front bumper is wavy.. I'm doing shadowline, so I don't want to buy the extremely expensive new bumpers just to paint them... I only have 1 new pic, but I'll take more this weekend. I'm going to work on the car 90% of the time :P.

Image

The Hartge front spoiler was not a direct fit, I'm working on that too. It sits too high on one side and It's too tight around the original "lip". But I'll figure it out :)

The front wheels are not touching the ground in the pic btw.. :p

I'm doing it all white, with all the chrome in satin black (except for the grille, and the bumpers in the color of the car). For wheels I want BBS RM with polished lip, but it seems impossible to find..
And lowering.. :)

And I'm painting the original "lip" black, in that way it won't show.. Looks like shit now, when it's white..
