Air ride options/kits/alternatives

Hi all, so I just saw a cheap e46 air ride kit on eBay, got me thinking what options are there, I'm a mechanic by trade so wondered if there was a kit I could buy that's close enough to adapt, or what to look out for in a universal kit....
