M42 conversion, exhaust manifold

Hi everyone, so I'm fitting an m42 to my 323. The engines in and gearbox all bolted up, etc.
The problem I'm having is that with the exhaust manifold fitted there's no way the steering shaft from the colum to rack is going to fit.
I was wondering what you others that have fitted or how u got round this issue?
