Re: Throttle bodies
Probably not the answer you are looking for but worth consideration, for the cost of throttle bodies and ecu etc you will be hitting the cost of a 36 m3 Evo lump. Would you not be better swapping one in? It will give more power for easier work.
I can understand if you want to keep the m52. I'd assume if you did the throttle bodies from a 36 m3 Evo would bolt straight up, have a linkage system that would be simple to use and would be cheaper than an aftermarket kit.

Re: Throttle bodies
Dbilas and Jenvey do off the shelf kits for just under £2k. You'll then need to sort ecu and mapping. You could buy their manifolds for about £450 - 500 and use S50 ITB's but it's a bit of work. You can get an s54 for about £1850.

Re: Throttle bodies
How difficult would that be to drop an s54 engine in and what else would be needed
Re: Throttle bodies
What gave you the throttle bodies idea then.
M3 engine yea not a problem. You problem is gearbox, diff and half shafts will need an upgrade so look at about 2k for all that + cost of engine.
Don't forget you will be needing massive brakes.

Re: Throttle bodies
Ben is the chap to ask but it isn't much harder than an m52 swap. The problem then though, is you'll be trying to put 300+bhp through a stock e21 rear end. (You're probably getting close to the maximum for a stock e21 LSD and driveshafts already) You'll also be wanting to change to an M3 gearbox, so you'll also need a digital speedo conversion and your brakes would probably need upgrading too. For what it's worth, I'd sort your rear beam / diff out next and then you have a choice of routes to more power if you want it. ITB's are great for looks and induction noise but if it's grunt you want, a 3.0 conversion like Nas doing, is probably a better option.
