E21 accelerator pedal

Hi, the accelerator pedal has snapped on my 1982 e21....would an E30 pedal fit?

A brand new pedal from the dealers is about 15 quid.

Is it the pedal or the cable. A mountain bike brake cable from Halfords is about 2 quid.
