Evaorating fuel

My 320/6 with Weber carb conversion refused to fire up the other day. It turned over fine but there was no hint of firing. A good spark at the plug made me suspect the old 'airlock in the fuel line' issue I experienced when the car hadn't been started for some time.

Sure enough, when I poured some fuel down the inlet pipe into the carb float chamber & down into the pump it fired straight up. All the fuel lines are new (& the connections are tight!) so I'm suspecting the gasket in the fuel pump may be a touch porous leading to fuel evaporating from the pump.

Looking at the BMW part diagrams (& W&N) it seems the gasket isn't available any more. What are you supposed to do in this situation???

Can you just use some old cardboard you have lying about or is there some proper gasket material available from somewhere?
