Looks like the only glue used is seam sealer over the joints.

They have done 2002's, E9's, E30's and they all strip fine so fingers crossed.

Ben

The rear quarters are deffo spot welded to the inner outer wheel tub. It just looks like they are glued, they are so close on the inside BMW ran a bead of seam sealer across the full length of the rear arch, i only presume to stop them vibrating together.

cant wait to see the post dip picture's, something I could never afford. :thumbsup

The problem sits within the c pillar. There are two panels that are only glued, aswell as the (Whats it called) little box were you fill up the tank, where the fillerneck starts. Within the c pillar you cant get to it, without opening it up. Side panels are spotwelded ofcourse. I can lay out the complete spotwelded places for you if you need that

Hi uwbuurman,

I think I know where you mean, I guess for originality/concours then these glued areas are important.
For mine a fully welded cage is going in so its less of an issue.
Cage will be tied into the A and B pillars with gussets.
And tied into the front and rear turrets, the diff mountings and the transmission tunnel.

Cheers

Custom Cages at Daventry:

They list the cage for an E21, but I'm adding a few more options.

Some update pics of the shell after being dipped de-rust and passivated, it is interesting to see the amount of brazing used between some of the panels:

Lots more pics can be found in the Photobucket album, may be useful to see how all the panels are joined in the factory:

Viewed all 276 pics. Looks great, some spots and holes, but all on known places. Nothing out of the ordinary, so a great base to start from!
