My alternator isn't charging my battery and i can't seem to find one anywhere to buy other than BMW at the price of a small fortune!
Can anyone make a suggestion on where to get one, one that can be fitted with little or no modification
Any help would be great as I'm tired of pushing the old girl haha

Alternatively, have you just tried replacing the brushes?

Re: M10 316 alternator
Disconnect the battery and then pull out the brushes first indeed. For details see the FAQ section

Re: M10 316 alternator
I've also got a couple of spare, working M10 alternators for sale if you need one.
Re: M10 316 alternator
Had the same problem, the guys at EMS offered to refurb mine for about £50 (two weeks ago). I ended up with 7 series alternator he had that works better than the 316's ever did, bolted straight on. Call him and ask him what model 7 series (long shot) but it may be worthwhile
