speedometer issue

hey guys, i'm swaping an m30b28 of the e23 , a model of 1986,and i want to make the speedometer work, is there a way to do so ? (Note: i dun know alot about the electric circuits of the car so if u r going to explain tell me step by steo and attach some pics), thnx in advance

the speedo is driven by a cable on the e21. its not an electronic speedo.

If you want to use the m30 i believe you will have to use the e21 m10 box as that bolts on to m30 or use an manual box from an older bmw that came with an m30 and had cable drive.

btw you do realise that engine is a massive heavy boat anchor? i wouldnt recommend it.

I wouldn't recommend it too. Either tune m10 or put in m42 engine.
