M52 automatic

M52 automatic in an E21. Has anyone done it?

Any obvious pitfalls I should be worried about?

What autobox would you be using?

According to the VIN it's a A5S 310Z box.

Idea is that everything car i E21, everything engine and transmission is E39.

I suppose it all boils down to how much interaction the autobox ECU needs with stuff going on elsewhere in the car. I know from experience on my old E39 528i Auto that the autobox ECU gets all pissy if any of the ABS sensors pack in, so unless things like that can be coded out, you'll need to fit ABS sensors, and more than likely the ABS system to go with it.

what about the space needed in the tunnel for that big box? I dont think it 'll fit without serious work.

Assuming I'll need to expand it, yes...

Any idea where I can find exact measurements of the box?

Yeah, but the seats are already a right fit, so there is not much room left for expansion. Measurements? Just measure the box.
